First Generation College Student
For The Review's inaugural magazine issue, our newsroom leaders were looking for evergreen content, which is very different from our typical priority of keeping up with the latest breaking news. I decided to write an essay on a subject that I had personal come to feel the effects of greatly at the time; the weight of being a first generation student.
Hispanic Heritage
When I had no idea what to pitch for a Review print issue, it came to my attention that we were publishing during Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month. My relationship with my ethnicity and its role as part of my identity has always been a complex one. But as a writer at a Primarily White Institution (PWI), and one of few Latina writers on our team, I figured I had a unique perspective to contribute and ran with that.
"The Eras Tour" Experience
This article exposed the extent of my Swiftie-hood to the world, but I have zero regrets (or shame, because Taylor Swift is awesome). After snagging tickets to an Eras Tour date, I knew there was no chance of me not writing about the experience. The article blew up in page views on The Review's website
